Although Strickland stated the visualization of TEXT in Digital era, this article seems to be outdated at this moment. The reason I affirm comes from a popularity of 'Typology'. (if you want to know 'typology' deeply, see 'http://')

Through breaking two basic pricipal of text - 'Legibility' and 'Readability', Strickland samples Jim Rosenberg(1996) as legibility and Mez(2000) as readability. But now this samples are mundane, ubiquitous in the web. Everybody use alien words-unlegible, unreadable- in every typing text (I,international, am really hard to understand T.T) Alien words have polluted all text which Srickland expected as the Oscillation in context of Blake and McLuhan (The Medium is the Message).

Questions :
Based on two things - 1) popularity of Typology and Flash which can manuplate text easily, and 2) overflowing of polluted text in the web.
I want to ask "Do you agree the text is intellignet as like Strickland's expectation at this time?"
and "Is there a place for this art? Can it stand on its own?" (this is Taco's Question :D )

Let me ask a question.

There are people saying those polluted and overused texts in the web are fun and creative. Also, I sometimes could see unique creativity from them.
Are you saying those creativities not considered as intelligents?

wow i know what you mean.
first, let's think that is a creatvity can give us fun intelligent? i don't think so. two things are very different concept.

In Strickland's discussion, creative meadia works can be intelligent. However creativity of polluted/overused text is not. i'm sure that.

Perhaps an iconography could be preferable to typological considerations.
