Steve_Ch8_Walker_I

I know flook posted something about this before me but I am being stubborn and writing it anyway. I want to quote a piece of this article. "My hair is still wet from the shower when I connect my computer to the network, sipping my morning coffee. I check my email and fint it there in between other messages an email from Caroline." I read it quickly and then visit her website. She's waiting for me. She holds up a shirt she's bought to the webcam, asking me after by whether I'd like to send it to her." I'm sorry but this is not my cup of tea. Yes the concept is kinda cool but on the same level its freaky. If you want interaction like this go outside and get a girlfriend/boyfriend. I just don't see why someone would be apart of this. But hell I'm not the most normal person either.

Yeah, i get your point, I still am a little vague.. did Caroline want him to buy that shirt?

and how do they make money out of this game?

I am with you, I don't know if they wanted him to buy it or not. It would make sense for him to buy it because it would be insane to send out t-shirts for free to everyone that is "playing"

I think what Walker was trying to get across with that introduction is that even though Caroline is a game, Caroline interacts with the user just as a normal person would. Walker was not able to control with Caroline would send her an email. Walker simply went about her normal business, and just as a normal person would, Caroline sent Walker an email at her own discretion.

Caroline as far as I know is only a test. There will be more of these things and it will all be about data mining and product placement. They will specialize these so instead of just Amazon suggesting that you buy this other CD, it will be this "person," this "friend" of yours that will be pushing it on you.

Yes, but some people can't get a real girl/boyfriend in life or even friends. Even the ugliest person can have a relationship with a computer or with IF/AI.
